Tu Si Zi tonifies the yang. It is acrid, sweet, and neutral. It enters the liver and kidney systems. Tu Si Zi improve sex hormone production from the adrenal glands and gonads to treat erectile dysfunction, excess vaginal discharge, frequent urination, and nocturnal emissions due to deficiency. Its acrid quality acts on the liver to move the blood and improve its quality which helps patients with blurred vision. The warm quality has a tonifying effect on the spleen which reduces deficiency pattern diarrhea.
Tu Si Zi is unique in that it tonifies both the yin and the yang and is not cloying. Because it is neutral it can be applied safely to many deficiency patterns.
