Hei Zhi Ma is sweet and neutral. It enters the large intestine, liver, and kidney systems. Its yin nourishing effect allows it to treat dry constipation in the large intestines. Its relationship to the liver and kidneys allows it to treat age related decline that affects the eyes and hearing.
Hei Zhi Ma is sometimes prescribed to patients for recovery after they have been ill.
