CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:

Ren Shen is sweet, slightly bitter, and slightly warm. It enters the spleen and lung systems. Ren Shen is a very important herb to consider when treating patients that suffer deficiency patterns.

Ren Shen regulates endocrine function from the hypothalamus and pituitary glands to the adrenal glands. In this way it brings up energy levels and reduces abnormal pancreatic insulin spikes making it useful in the treatment of diabetes. It’s possible that

Ren Shen helps to upregulate cellular insulin receptors. Ren Shen is expensive and warm. It is sometimes replaced with Dang Shen for cost and to prevent excess heat accumulation.
