Ju Hua is bitter, sweet, and slightly cold. It enters the liver and lung systems. Its liver function supports phase II with helps circulate blood to the eyes which are a single artery system. This function also helps with allergies and irritability associated with liver qi stagnation.

Contraindications: large doses of Ju Hua should not be prescribed to patients with yang deficient stomach cold patterns or related diarrhea or to patients that present with deficiency of qi in general
