# Zi Cao

### Arnebiae/Lithospermi Radix

_sweet, cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Clears Heat and Cools the Blood**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Rashes
- Constipation
- Urinary difficulty
- Lesions
- Vaginal itching
- Burns

Zi Cao is sweet and cold. It enters the heart and liver. It is useful
in treating rashes that haven’t fully expressed themselves and can
also be used to treat burns topically.

**Channels:** heart, liver

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Antimicrobial
- Skin abscess
- Antitumor
- Vaginitis
- Eczema
- fever

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Zi Cao to patients with
loose stool due to poor digestive function
