# Ze Lan

### Lycopi Herba

_acrid, bitter, slightly warm_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Circulate Blood**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Trauma pain and swelling
- Dysmenorrhea
- Postpartum abdominal pain
- Edema
- Painful urinary dribbling

Ze Lan is acrid to move the qi and blood, bitter to detoxify and
drain, and it is slightly warm to treat cold related patterns. It
enters the liver and spleen systems.
Its edema function is used with patients that have postpartum
edema or for patients with facial edema.

**Channels:** liver, spleen

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Diuretic
- Edema
- Carbuncles
- Blood deficiency
- Bladder disorders
- Menstrual irregularities

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Ze Lan to patients that
are pregnant
