# Yu Li Ren

### Pruni Semen

_acrid, bitter, sweet, neutral_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Laxative that Drains Downward**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Constipation
- Lower limb edema
- Difficulty urinating

Yu Li Ren is a gently laxative and moistens the intestines. It is
acrid, bitter, sweet, and neutral. Although its effect is primarily on
the gastrointestinal tract, it also promotes urination and reduces
edema in the lower limbs.

**Channels:** large intestine, small intestine, spleen

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Dysuria
- Ascites
- Diuresis
- Hypertension

**Formulas:**
- Qing Zao Run Chang Wan
- Wu Ren Wan

**Contraindications:** Yu Li Ren should be prescribed with
caution to pregnant patients
