# Yi Mu Cao

### Leonuri Herba

_acrid, bitter, slightly cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Circulate Blood**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Irregular menstruation
- Premenstrual cramps
- Abdominal masses
- Retained lochia
- Heavy menstruation
- Trauma
- Pain
- Edema
- Blood in urine
- Sores
- Abscesses
- Swellings
- Rashes

Yi Mu Cao is acrid to disperse and move the blood, bitter to drain
and detoxify, and slightly cold to treat heat patterns including
damp-heat. It enters the bladder, liver, and heart systems.

**Channels:** heart, liver, bladder

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Kidney related edema
- Infertility
- Dysmenorrhea
- Amenorrhea
- Painful urination
- Eczema
- High blood pressure
- Dysuria
- Antifungal

**Formulas:**
- Tian Ma Gou Teng Yin

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Yin Mu Cao to pregnant
patients or to patients with blood deficiency
