# Xin Yi Hua

### Magnoliae Flos

_acrid, slightly warm_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Releases the Exterior for Cold Attack**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Loss of smell
- Nasal congestion
- Headache
- Sinus congestion
- Common cold

Xin Yi Hua is acrid and warm. It enters the lung and stomach
systems to treat exterior cold attack especially with nasal or sinus
congestion.

**Channels:** lung, stomach

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Headache
- Common cold
- Runny nose
- Sinusitis
- Body aches
- Eczema

**Formulas:**
- Cang Er Zi San
- Xin Yi Qing Fei Yin
- Xin Yi San

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Xin Yi Hua to patients
that present with extreme deficiency heat
