# Xi Xin

### Asari Radix et Rhizoma

_acrid, warm_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Release the Exterior for Cold Attack**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Common cold
- Headache
- Body ache
- Toothache
- Abdominal pain
- Cough
- Chest fullness
- Nasal congestion
- Loss of consciousness

Xi Xin is acrid and warm. It enters the heart, kidney, and lung
systems to treat exterior cold attacks especially when the patient
presents with cold deficiency patterns that may include dampness.
It can treat wet coughs.

**Channels:** lung, heart, kidney

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Xi Xin to patients that
present with deficiency of qi, excess sweating, or deficiency heat
patterns
