# Tian Hua Fen

### Trichosanthis Radix

_bitter, sweet, cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Clear Heat and Drain Fire**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Thirst
- Irritability
- Dysglycemia
- Cough
- Carbuncles
- Sores
- Breast abscess
- Blood stagnation

Tian Hua Fen is bitter, slightly sweet, and cold. It enters the lung
and stomach systems to treat heat patterns especially when fluids
and yin have been depleted.

**Channels:** lung, stomach

- Hemorrhoids
- Antitumor
- Dysglycemia
- Thirst
- Jaundice
- Cough
- Irritability
- Skin disorders
- Trauma

**Formulas:**
- Bei Mu Gua Lou San
- Chai Hu Gui Zhi Gan Jiang Tang
- Chai Hu Qing Gan Tang
- Fu Yuan Huo Xue Tang
- Kai Yu Zhong Yu Tang
- Sha Shen Mai Dong Tang
- Xia Ru Yong Quan San
- Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin
- Zhen Ren Huo Ming Yin

**Contraindications:** prescribe Tian Hua Fen with caution to
patients that present with poor digestive function, do not
combine with Zhi Fu Zi, Chuan Wu, or Cao Wu
