# Shi Chang Pu

### Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma

_acrid, bitter, warm, aromatic_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Aromatic Herb that Opens Orifices**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Deafness
- Stupor
- Dizziness
- Epigastric distention
- Abdominal fullness
- Pain in the abdomen
- Sores
- Trauma

Shi Chang Pu is aromatic, acrid, bitter, and warm. It enters the
heart and the stomach systems allowing it to treat disorders of the
gastrointestinal tract. Its influences on the heart system treats
altered states of consciousness by rising clear yang to the head and
calming shen.

**Channels:** heart, stomach

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Shi Chang Pu to
patients that have patterns of deficiency heat or if they have
spermatorrhea, excess sweating, or unstable mood, do not
use long term
