# Qu Mai

### Dianthi Herba

_bitter, cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Drains Dampness**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Urinary tract disorders
 - Painful urination
 - Urinary dribbling
 - Hematuria
- Amenorrhea

Qu Mai enters the heart, small intestine, and bladder systems. It is
bitter to drain and cold to treat damp heat patterns.

**Channels:** heart, small intestine, bladder

POSSIBILITIES:
- Constipation
- Antitumor
- Edema
- Diuretic
- Amenorrhea
- Carbuncles
- Urinary difficulties
- Antihypertensive
- Antimicrobial
- Urinary tract infections

**Formulas:**
- Ba Zheng San
- Shi Wei San

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Qu Mai to pregnant
patients
