# Qian Shi

### Euryales Semen

_astringent, sweet, neutral_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Stabilize and Bind**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Chronic diarrhea
- Urogenital system disorders
 - Premature ejaculation
 - Nocturnal emissions
 - Spermatorrhea
 - Incontinence
 - Urinary frequency
 - Vaginal discharge

Qian Shi enters the kidney and spleen. It is astringent, sweet, and
neutral. Its influence is on the gastrointestinal tract and on the
hormone function of the adrenal glands. This herb can be used
with children that have a poorly developed digestive function
resulting abdominal fullness and eventually diarrhea. Qian Shi is
neutral and can be used for hot or cold patterns.

Qian Shi supports production of sex hormones from the adrenal
glands and possibly the gonads for patients with premature
ejaculation or spermatorrhea. It also helps with incontinence
related to kidney function.
When there is excess vaginal discharge due to deficiency or due to
damp-heat patterns, this herb can both eliminate the excess aspect
and stabilize the deficiency.

- Urinary incontinence
- Fecal incontinence
- Leukorrhea

**Formulas:**
- Jin Suo Gu Jing Wan

**Contraindications:** Qian Shi should not be prescribed to
patients that have difficulty in urinated or have constipation
