# Mang Xiao

### Natrii Sulfas

_acrid, bitter, salty, very cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Purgative that Drains Downward**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Constipation
- Redness in the eyes
- Painful eyes
- Skin lesions
- Sore throat
- Inhibited lactation

Where salt goes water flows. Mang Xiao is acrid, bitter, salty, and
very cold. It brings water into the gastrointestinal tract by entering
the stomach and large intestine systems then flushes creating a
laxative effect.

**Channels:** stomach, large intestine

- Hemorrhoids
- Tumor inhibitor

**Contraindications:** Mang Xiao should not be prescribed to
pregnant patients that have patterns of deficiency cold in the
gastrointestinal tract, in treatment of lactation Mang Xiao should
be discontinued once the therapeutic effect has occurred
