# Mai Ya

### Hordei Fructus Germinantus

_sweet, neutral_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Relieves Food Stagnation**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Indigestion
- Infant milk indigestion
- Poor appetite
- Distended and painful breasts
- Excess lactation
- Epigastric fullness
- Belching

Mai Ya is sweet and neutral. It enters the liver, stomach, and
spleen systems. It can be prescribed for lactating mothers to
restrict lactation.

**Channels:** liver, stomach, spleen

POSSIBILITIES:
- Excess lactation
- Indigestion
- Bloating
- Diarrhea
- Dyspnea

**Formulas:**
- Fei Er Wan
- Jian Pi Wan
- Yi Jia Jian Zheng Qi San
- Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang
- Zhi Shi Xiao Pi Wan

**Contraindications:** Mai Ya should not be prescribed to
lactating mothers during their normal lactation and breast
feeding stage
