Lu Rong has been found in clinical trials to increase testosterone
production. It works powerfully to tonify the yang hormones of
the body. It is sweet, salty, and warm. Lu Rong enters the liver
and kidney systems to improve a low functioning endocrine
system.

Lu Rong acts on the adrenal glands and the gonads to strengthen
the tendons, ligaments, and improve developmental delays when
related to poor endocrine function.
Prescribing too much Lu Rong too soon can result in the liver
yang rising with symptoms of dizziness, red eyes, and possibly
hypertension.

**Contraindications:** Lu Rong is potent and should be
prescribed in small doses initially before increasing in
increments, do not prescribe to patients with heat patterns from
deficiency or who have heat in the blood level, do not prescribe if
the patient has phlegm-heat in the lungs or if they have a
pathogen that is warm in nature, do not prescribe to patients
with blazing stomach fire
