# Lu Hui

### Aloe

_bitter, cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Purgative that Drains Downward**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Constipation
- Mood swings
- Dizziness
- Redness of the eyes
- Insomnia
- Epigastric pain
- Tinnitus
- Fever
- Childhood malnutrition

Lu Hui should be used in pill instead of decocted. It is cold and
bitter. It enters the liver, stomach, and large intestine systems to
drain down and detoxify.

**Channels:** liver, stomach, large intestine

- Dang Gui Long Hui Wan

**Contraindications:** prescribe Lu Hui with caution to
lactating patients, do not prescribe to pregnant patients or to
patients that have weak digestive systems especially spleen yang
deficiency patterns
