# Lu Dou

### Phaseoli Radiati Semen

_sweet, cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Clears Heat and Resolves Toxicity**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Fever
- Irascibility
- Thirst
- Sores
- Poisoning

Lu Dou enters the heart and the stomach. It is sweet and cold to
bring down fever induced by summer heat patterns. A patient can
grind Lu Dou and make a tea out of it to sip on during hot
summer days.

The antidote function of Lu Dou can be used for Zhi Fu Zi
poisoning or for fava bean poisoning.

**Channels:** stomach, heart

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Diuresis
- Mouth sores
- Carbuncles

**Contraindications:** prescribe Lu Dou with caution to
patients that have diarrhea
