# Lian Qiao

### Forsythiae Fructus

_bitter, slightly acrid, slightly cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Clears Heat and Resolves Toxicity**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Cold and flu
 - Fever
 - Chills
 - Sore throat
 - Headache
- Skin sores
- Internal abscesses
- Scrofula

Lian Qiao enters the lung, heart, and gallbladder systems. It is
bitter to drain, slightly acrid to break up and disperse, and slightly
cold to treat heat patterns.

**Contraindications:** Lian Qiao should not be prescribed to
patients that present with weak digestive functions due to
stomach and spleen deficiency
