# Ju Hong

### Citri reticulatae Exocarpium rubrum

_acrid, bitter, warm_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Regulate Qi**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Vomiting
- Belching
- Cough

Ju Hong is acrid, bitter, and warm. It enters the stomach and lung
systems. Its bitter and acrid properties improve digestion and
break up cough when it’s due to phlegm-dampness. It is more
drying than Chen Pi but less beneficial at harmonizing the middle.

**Channels:** lung, stomach

POSSIBILITIES:
- Gastritis
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Cough
- Dyspnea
- Bloating
- Distention of the abdomen

**Formulas:**
- Ban Xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang
- Bei Mu Gua Lou San
- Dao Tan Tang
- Di Tan Tang
- Er Chen Tang
- Pu Ji Xiao Du Yin
- Zhi Sou San

**Contraindications:** there are no contraindications
