# Hu Jiao

### Piperis Fructus

_acrid, hot_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Warm the Interior and Expel Cold**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain

Hu Jiao is acrid and hot. It enters the stomach and large intestine
systems to treat cold patterns of the gastrointestinal tract.

**Channels:** stomach, large intestine

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Stomachache
- Antitumor
- Diarrhea
- Food poisoning

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Hu Jiao to pregnant
patients
