# Hei Zhi Ma

### Sesami Semen Nigrum

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Tonify Yin**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Blurred vision
- Tinnitus
- Dizziness
- Inhibited lactation
- Headaches
- Numbness
- Constipation
 - Dry stool

Hei Zhi Ma is sweet and neutral. It enters the large intestine, liver,
and kidney systems. Its yin nourishing effect allows it to treat dry
constipation in the large intestines. Its relationship to the liver and
kidneys allows it to treat age related decline that affects the eyes
and hearing.

Hei Zhi Ma is sometimes prescribed to patients for recovery after
they have been ill.

POSSIBILITIES:
- Hypoadrenia
- Decline of vision
- Poor memory
- Constipation
- Lactation difficulties
- Dysglycemia

**Formulas:**
- Qi Bao Mei Ran Da
- Qing Zao Jiu Fei Tang
- Xiang Feng San

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Hei Zhi Ma to patients
that present with diarrhea due to weak digestive function
