# Hai Tong Pi

### Erythrina Cortex

_acrid, bitter, neutral_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Eliminate Wind-Dampness**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Pain
 - Low back pain
 - Toothache
 - Knee pain
- Edema
- Skin lesions
- Scabies

Hai Tong Pi is acrid, bitter, and neutral. It enters the liver and
kidney systems. Although it is neutral, its greatest effect is on
patterns of dampness originating from heat. It treats the lower
half of the body especially well and can even be used in cases of
damp heat in the lower jiao.

Topically it is used for bug bites, scabies, skin sores and can be
gargled when a patient has a toothache.

**Channels:** liver, kidney

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Antimicrobial
- Diarrhea
- Arthritis
- Rash
- Antifungal

**Contraindications:** there are no contraindications for Hai
Tong Pi documented
