# Hai Piao Xiao

### Sephiae Endoconcha

_salty, astringent, slightly warm_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Hai Piao Xiao is salty, astringent, and slightly warm. According to
the Bensky Materia Medica it enters the liver at the blood level.
This may explain its great function for stopping bleeding. The
liver influences blood flow and blood health. It can even be
applied topically to stop bleeding for traumas and to heal sores
and ulcers.
It enters the kidney to support hormone related leakage including
nocturnal emissions and vaginal discharge. This function likely
influences the adrenal glands and the gonads.

**Contraindications:** continued use of Hai Piao Xiao can result
in constipation, should not be prescribed with Zhi Fu Zi and/or
Bai Ji
