# Gu Sui Bu

### Drynariae Rhizoma

_bitter, warm_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Tonify Warm**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Tinnitus
- Low back pain
- Knee pain
- Tooth pain
- Bleeding gums
- Diarrhea
- Sprains and strains
- Broken bones
- Alopecia

Gu Sui Bu can be used topically for alopecia. It is warm and bitter
and enters the liver and kidneys. It supports the hormone
function of the adrenal and gonads for strengthening of tendons,
ligaments, and bones. For this reason, it can be prescribed to
patients that suffer low back pain due to yang deficiency patterns.

As a yang tonic, Gu Sui Bu can treat diarrhea when the cause is a
cold deficiency pattern.

Gu Sui Bu also improves blood flow and directs floating yang
downward for such disorders as toothache and tinnitus.

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Gu Sui Bu to patients
that present with deficiency heat patterns or to patients that do
not show signs of blood stagnation
