# Dong Kui Zi

### Malvae Fructus

_sweet, cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Drain Dampness**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Painful urination
- Edema
- Constipation
- Inhibited lactation
- Breast abscess

Dong Kui Zi enters the bladder, small intestine, and large
intestine systems. It is sweet and cold to drain out patterns of
damp-heat especially when involving constipation.

**Channels:** bladder, small intestine, large intestine

- Constipation
- Breast abscess
- Edema
- Lactation
- Gonorrhea

**Formulas:**
- Shi Wei San

**Contraindications:** Dong Kui Zi should be used with caution
when prescribing to pregnant patients or patients that have
weak digestive function from spleen deficiency
