# Dang Shen

### Codonopsis Radix

_sweet, neutral_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Tonify Qi**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Fatigue
- Weakness in the limbs
- Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract
 - Diarrhea
 - Vomiting
 - Prolapse
- Rectum
- Stomach
 - Reduced appetite
- Chronic illness
- Prolapse of uterus
- Pulmonary disorders
 - Chronic cough
 - Shortness of breath

Dang Shen is sweet and neutral. It enters the spleen and lung
systems. It is especially important for spleen deficient chronic
illness patterns.

Its lung function allows it to treat cough, wheeze, and phlegm.

It can replace formulas with Ren Shen when Ren Shen is too
warm or too expensive. Use it at a ratio of 2 to 1.
