# Chun Pi

### Ailanthi Cortex

_bitter, astringent, cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Stabilize and Bind**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Pathologies of the lower jiao
 - Chronic diarrhea
 - Dysentery
 - Vaginal discharge
 - Blood in stool
 - Parasitic infection

Chun Pi is bitter, astringent, and cold. It works on heat patterns in
the gastrointestinal tract causing diarrhea, dysentery, blood in
stool, and yellowish vaginal discharge.

Chun Pi can also be used topically for pruritic dermatosis.

**Channels:** stomach, large intestine

Diarrhea
Dysentery
Excess vaginal discharge
Antiparasitic
Antimicrobial
Dysbiosis
Hemafecia

**Formulas:**
- Gu Jing Wan

**Contraindications:** this is a cold herb and should be used
cautiously with patients that have cold patterns especially from
deficiency
