# Chuan Bei Mu

### Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus

_bitter, sweet, slightly cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Transform Hot Phlegm**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESATIONS:
- Cough
- Chest pressure
 - Due to phlegm accumulation
- Nodulation
 - Scrofula
- Breast abscess
- Lung abscess
- Sores

Chuan Bei Mu is bitter to drain out phlegm, sweet to tonify, and
slightly cold to treat heat patterns involving phlegm. It enters the
heart and lung systems.

Chuan Bei Mu is very useful in treating any type of cough. This
includes productive coughs or cough with blood or from yin
deficiency with extreme deficiency heat.

- Chronic cough
- Pneumonia
- Mastitis
- Dysglycemia
- Antihypertensive

**Formulas:**
- Bai He Gu Jin Tang
- Bao Chan Wu You Fang
- Bei Mu Gua Lou San
- Gan Lu Xiao Du Dan
- Jiu Xian San
- Ling Jiao Gou Teng Tang
- Ren Shen Ge Jie San
- Yang Yin Qing Fei Tang

**Contraindications:** do not combine Chuan Bei Mu with Cao
Wu, Chuan Wu, Fu Zi, Ku Shen, Kuan Dong Hua, She Chuang Zi, or
Wu Tou, do not give Chuan Bei Mu to patients with phlegm
originating from a cold pattern
