# Chan Tui

### Cicadae Periostracum

_sweet, salty, slightly cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Release the Exterior for Heat Attacks**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Loss of voice
- Sore throat
- Rash
- Eye disorders
 - Red swollen eyes
 - Blurry vision
- Fever
 - Delirium
- Night terrors
- Muscle spasms
 - Tetanus

Chan Tui is sweet, salty, and slightly cold and enters the liver and
lung systems. It is especially useful for common cold with sore
throat, loss of voice, and fever.

**Channels:** lung, liver

- Bell’s palsy
- Allergies
- Eczema
- Rash
- Laryngitis

**Formulas:**
- Xiao Feng San

**Contraindications:** Chan Tui should be prescribed with
caution to patients that are pregnant
