# Cao Guo

### Tsaoko Fruit

_spicy, warm_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Aromatic Herb that Transforms Damp**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Gastrointestinal disorders
 - Abdominal distention
 - Epigastric distention
 - Vomiting
 - Diarrhea
 - Greasy tongue coat
 - Indigestion
 - Nausea
- Fever
- Chills

Cao Guo is acrid and warm. It enters the spleen and stomach
systems to treat conditions involving dampness. It treats
indigestion especially due to consumption of meat.

Cao Guo is also useful with patients presenting with malarial
disorders that involve intermittent fever and chills.

**Channels:** spleen, stomach

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND CLINICAL
POSSIBILITIES:
- Pain in the chest
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Acid reflux
- Fever

**Formulas:**
- Mu Xiang Liu Qi Yin
- Shi Pi Yin

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Cao Guo to patients that
present with patterns of yin or blood deficiency
