# Bie Jia

### Trionycis Carapax

_salty, slightly cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Tonify Yin

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Fever
 - Due to deficiency heat
- Night sweats
 - Due to deficiency heat
- Bone pain
 - Heat sensation
 - Extreme deficiency heat
- Pain
 - Chest pain
 - Rib-side pain
- Amenorrhea
- Malaria
- Masses
- Menorrhagia

Bie Jia is slightly cold and salty. It enters the liver and spleen
systems to treat yin deficiency patterns. It has the ability to anchor
liver yang by nourishing liver yin. Its salty nature allows it to treat
nodules and masses.

**Formulas:**
- Da Ding Feng Zhu
- Qing Gu San
- Qing Hao Bie Jia Tang
- Rou Fu Bao Yuan Tang
- San Jia Fu Mai Tang

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Bie Jia to patients that
are pregnant or that present with poor digestive function
