# Bi Ba

### Piperis longi Fructus

_acrid, hot_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Warm the Interior and Expel Cold**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Gastrointestinal disorders
 - Nausea
 - Vomiting
 - Belching
 - Abdominal pain
 - Acid reflux
- Due to cold in the middle jiao
toothache

Bi Ba is acrid and hot. It enters the stomach and large intestine
systems to warm internally and treat cold patterns that are
typically excess in nature but may be caused by an underlying
pattern of deficiency; especially spleen yang.

Bi Ba can be used in powered form for toothaches.

**Channels:** stomach, large intestine

- Gastrointestinal tract disorders
 - Diarrhea
 - Borborygmus
 - Acid reflux
- Allergies
- Angina pain
 - Cold obstructing function in the middle and
upper jiao
- Antimicrobial

**Formulas:**
- Su He Xiang Wan

**Contraindications:** do not prescribe Bi Ba to patients that
present with deficiency heat patterns
