# Bai Jiang Cao

### Patriniae Herba

_acrid, bitter, slightly cold_

#### PRIMARY FUNCTION:

_**Clears Heat and Resolves Toxicity**_

CLASSICAL MANIFESTATIONS:
- Intestinal abscess
 - Due to excess pathogenic heat
 - Appendicitis
- Pain
 - Abdominal pain
 - Chest pain
 - Postoperative pain
 - Postpartum pain
 - Due to patterns of blood stagnation in the
middle jiao

Bai Jiang Cao is bitter which helps it to drain downward and
eliminate harmful toxins. This is a detoxification function.

Its acrid quality breaks up patterns of stagnation and its slightly
cold quality is antimicrobial. It can also be applied topically.

Bai Jiang Cao enters the liver, stomach, and large intestine systems
to treat conditions of the gastrointestinal tract.

**Contraindications:** Bai Jiang Cao should be used cautiously
with pregnant patients as it is bitter and acrid and has blood
moving qualities
